Heat vegetable oil to 325 degrees.
Sift together the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Beat in the egg and milk, then dump in the corn.
Stir to combine well.
Drop the mixture into the fryer 1 tablespoon at a time. Drop 3 - 5 spoons per batch.
When the fritters are golden brown and floating remove from the fryer and place on a paper towel line plate to drain.
Serve warm with syrup or honey.
